| Bob Bondurant is the type of racing legend that everyone THINKS they know.
Invoke the “Bondurant” name and most people immediately call reference to Ford Cobras or his Driving School.
But, the Bob legend really all started with Corvette.
In 1959, driving a Corvette in the Southern California region, Bondurant captured the West Coast "B" Production Championship and the Corvette Driver of the Year Award. This put him on the talent map heading him toward international stardom.
So, meeting him in LeMans and then finding this picture in our BadBoys Gallery with the BBV logo affixed to his fleet of Corvette school cars brings us kind of full circle....and we love it.
PS - We think the last cars he raced were Chevy powered. Are we right?
eg- DANA Chevrolet prepared a brand new 1967 L88 equipped Corvette Sting Ray for endurance races, including Le Mans. Bob Bondurant and Dick Guldstrand drove. Its red, white, and blue paint scheme was a crowd favorite. |
