| 2014 Daytona 24hr: Results | |
|

| New series, new track, new car - A tough task for the men and women at Pratt & Miller to put a product on the track only 3 months after the final race of the 2013 ALMS season.
Daytona is an oddity on the schedule. The track looks simple, but the high banks put tremendous loads on components that would otherwise never fail at other traditional road courses.
Anytime you have a new car, you will have teething problems. Earlier in the week both cars had electrical problems, causing #4 car to miss a practice session, and the #3 missed qualifying. The #4 Corvette qualified 4th, but only 2 tenths off of pole.
The #3 Corvette lead the GTLM class at the 6hr mark but ultimately DNF with overheating problems.
The #4 Corvette battled its way up the field and was in position for a podium finish, or a possible win, when a transmission bearing failed suddenly without warning at the 22hr mark. The team did get it repaired and ultimately finished 5th.
The end result may not have been a victory, or a podium finish, but realistically it was a promising start to the 2014 season and C7.R era.
Congrats goes out to Porsche for winning the Rolex, but we will be back.....and we will be ready.
