| What a weekend.
Corvette Racing qualified 4th and 6th in the ultra competitive ALMS GT class, but the new #05 Core Autosport Porsche, which was 2nd, failed post qualifying tech with a wing that was 4mm too tall, moving the Vettes up 1 position.
The #4 started strong and lead for a time, but a hose in the gearbox cracked and caused the car to be stuck in 6th gear. After some time in the pits the car did manage to get back out but several laps down and with no way to get back into the fight.
The #3 Corvette on the other hand ran a brilliant race and lead most of it, but with the top 5 GT cars riding it's tail the entire time. The #3 pit crew was especially on their game and hit their marks and high-fives all the way around each stop.
With 10 minutes left in the race, a full course caution came out and the race ended with a 1 lap sprint to the finish. The #3 driven by Antonio Garcia managed to hand on an score a win!
This is the first time the #3 Corvette has won a race since Mosport 2009
Congrats to Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, and the entire Dan Binks crew! The #3 Corvette lead 3 hours of the 4 hour race!
Fun Fact: The #3 car reportedly spent 4 seconds less in the pits then the 2nd place Falken Tires Porsche.
On to Le Mans! |
