| Corvette Racing came to Long Beach knowing it was going to be a difficult task to get a good result.
The Corvettes qualified 4th and 6th.
The start of the race was crucial, not to get into any trouble with cars stacking up. Both Corvettes managed to come out unscathed. A series of cautions caused for some unexpected guesswork on the pit strategy, and ultimately cost the team.
On the TV broadcast is seemed like Corvette Racing ran a flawless race, but they did have a few incidents not caught on camera. During a pit stop by the #4 car, the team experienced a problem with a wheel gun, and the steering column got spun around so Gavin had an unexpected issue getting the steering wheel back on after the driver change. That ultimately put them in the back of the pack.
The #4 car ultimately fought back and caught up to the #3 Corvette. Gavin was following Jan down into turn one with 20 minutes to go and the #3 had a huge moment, locked the right front and then the rears. Magnussen managed to keep the car out of the wall but allowed the #4 to sneak by for 4th place. By this time both Corvettes were struggling with the tires are could only hold on for a 4th and 5th place finish, behind the 2 BMWs and the #91 Viper.
The team ultimately acknowledged that the result was better then expected and solid points for the championship.
