| A lot has happened since everyone crossed the finish line at Petit Le Mans this past October. Here is a quick overview of what to expect.
Who Left? -Alex Job Racing Lotus is gone. Lack of funds to develop the car. -Flying Lizard Motorsport is temporarily moving to GTC. Porsche has stopped all development for the 997 GT3-RSR and is moving onto the 991 GT3-RSR. There will be no Porsche factory GT team in North America for 2013.
Who Is Changing? -RLL BMW is making a change from the M3 to the Z4. This car will use a V8, not a variant of the four or six-cylinder units offered in the production car.
Who Is Back? -Risi Competizione is back! A full season effort is planned, but no drivers have been announced yet.
Who Is New? -TRG will be embarking on a new sportscar program, utilizing the Aston Martin Vantage V8. They also have hopes to run at the LM24. -CORE Autosport is a rapidly growing team, and they will be entering GT with a Porsche 997 GT3-RSR and will be utilizing factory driver Patrick Long. -There are rumors that there may be even more newcomers. Only time will tell.
Who Is Returning? -Extreme Speed Motorsports, SRT Motorsports, Team Falken Tire, Paul Miller Racing, and of course our boys at Corvette Racing will all be back to battle it out in the best class of racing in the world, and arguably, in the history of racing. |
