| Friday, the Corvettes 'go' on-track at mighty Mosport for ALMS Round 4. A place they love, at which they often go well, AND have won, with great on-track excitment.
Thursday was set-up day, as you can see. And it was time for BBV to do some data collecting. Which gets us to the 'stop' part of Mosport 2011.
The performance adjustments to BMW and Porsche mandated by IMSA on July 10, 2011 will NOT be implemented at Mosport. So, it is more of the same challenge for Corvette that has made every race, except their Le Mans win, so daunting vs competition.
Why did this called for equilizer rules change 'stop'? An IMSA follow-up bulletin 'tried' to explain. Delayed timing seems to be called out, as does 'Attachment 2 of the ALMS SSR', where Page 61 says 'restrictor changes are implemented 14 days after notice, weight changes 7 days'.
14 days after the 7/10 notice is..... 7/24 - Mosport race day!
So, WTF? Why no go? But, wait there's more - The LMPC restrictor adjustment also announced in the 7/10 notice WILL take place at Mosport. WTFF?
We even were told that the 'delay' was NOT IMSA getting the bulletin out late BUT BMW claiming they were delayed getting the new restrictor parts manufactured. Who's running the BMW Motorsport CNC lathe? Bavarian turtles?
Corvette Racing is taking the high-road. Time to just focus on what CR does. Race Mosport, THE ball-check circuit in North America that suits the C6R, the CR drivers, and the CR 'Knowledge Book' that has cracked the code on the 5 or 6 'little secrets' to go fast and win around this place.
As to the Rule Book? Well, we're pretty sure Corvette Racing knows the 'behind-the-scenes' secrets to running THAT course, too.
But, for now, it's time to 'go' racing. Which is what Corvette Racing still does quite well. |
