| On May 21 / 22 @ Laguna Seca, Corvette will salute its 50th Anniversary of Le Mans racing [and winning] by bringing Corvette Legends of Le Mans to the public.
3 great cars, 1 iconic Corvette driver / racer - Dr. Dick Thompson, who will be on hand to describe his Le Mans and Corvette racing experiences.
The cars? * The 1960 #2 Cunningham Corvette. * The 1967 Dana Chevrolet-entered Corvette. * The 1969 Greenwood Corvette.
Chevrolet closes the circle of Le Mans Corvettes with this 1-of-1 2011 Z06 [above] painted in American Racing white / blue, just like the 1st Cunningham cars of 50 years past. This special Z06 - VIN 0001 will be auctioned to benefit the National Corvette Museum later this year.
Corvette Racing ambassador, Ron Fellows, a 2-time Le Mans winner, will also join the occasion.
In addition to the display [and likely on-track laps], fans will be able to participate in driver autograph sessions, tech talks, a Q&A with the Corvette Legends Drivers, and more.
For 2 glorious days, the past and present will co-exist at the ALMS race in Monterey. And then, it's on to the 2010 Le Mans race with our current Corvette Racing 'Legends' - the mighty GT2 C6R and the Pratt & Miller team of crew / drivers.
