| No disrespect to Gils de Ferran and his Laguna Chaparral-tribute LMP1 paint job [He drove for Jim in CART / got their 1st win together @ Laguna....] but, Chaparral Cars is more closely tied to GM Racing / Corvette Racing than anyone else.
Besides the Corvette connection with Chaparral founder, Jim Hall [above], running a Grand Sport Corvette at the turning point of his career, the whole 'Texas Roadrunner' operation WAS GM Racing’s BadBoy program.
Under the radar, outside GM’s anti-racing policies, Chaparral was where new performance technology went out the GM back door and off to work - Plastic composite chassis, semi-automatic gearboxes, downforce aero, wings, ground effects, and...racing style [those curves, those wheels].
The 2C and 2E cars are @ Laguna, as evidenced by these BBV pics. Plus, this 2C 'pipes-shot'.
Corvette Racing carries on the Chaparral tradition. So, maybe WE should have brought our own white car to the show.
Some earlier BBV Chaparral references here, here, and here. Chaparral history here, here, and here. ...and the official Chaparral web site here. |
