| The Road America Test Day time sheet tells part of the story. The top cars all in the 2:09's.
BMW, Porsche, Corvette. 0.7 sec splits first to third. But, test day is just THAT - Try stuff, Work on the car, Get a real-time read on mileage vs computer math.
60% or so of a lap is full throttle. So, winning here is mixing the blend of top speed and mpg just right. There ARE corners @ Elkhart Lake, but it is low drag and engine mapping that set the race pace / strategy.
The C6R GT2 6L LS7 will have the poke, the ZR1 body has the V-Max capability, the team knows how to dial the car in.
Watch the Corvettes into Canada Corner, Turn 1, Turn 5 to gauge if the team went lowest drag. Watch the pit stop count to determine the mpg plan. Or to paraphrase catcher Crash Davis in the flic, 'Bull Durham', "Don't think, Meat. Just [throw] watch" ....and enjoy. |
