| The original Corvette logo [above] was designed by Robert Bartholomew, an interior designer at Chevrolet, and was destined to appear on the 1953 Corvette prototype, to be introduced to the public at New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel in January.
However, 4 days before the Corvette intro, Chevrolet management decided a redesign was needed. The problem was the proposed emblem included the American flag, which is illegal to use on a commerical product. So, new emblems were attached to the Corvette front hood / steering wheel.
But, Corvette still became a piece of Americana. |
