| Winding Road is one of those on-line auto magazines. And now they have created some new cyberspace called NextAutos. Which gets us to the spam-mail we got from them that included the pic above and a run of copy called 'DECONSTRUCTED' listing "Five Essential Things GM Must Consider During Its Budget Cuts".
Clearly #2 and #4 gets our attention.
2] Reinvest in successful marketing programs: "The Corvette Racing program is a shining example of a winning program that has real connections to GM owners throughout the country (and, with Le Mans, the world). If any of GM's racing programs fall under the chopping block, management would have to be crazy to cut this one."
4] Continue to build great engines: "The last 5 years of GM powertrain development might be the greatest story never told—from pure unadulterated horsepower to great technologies such as direct injection. The new LS9 engine platform—the one stuffed in the new CTS-V and Corvette ZR1—was clearly built in an environment where the company had a love affair with its engineers. Lose that and we'll stop believing."
BBV is proud to be batting .400. Now, imagine channeling that passion into the other 3 'must do' projects........
1] Take the lead on electric cars. 3] Develop high-quality small car programs. 5] Maintain forward momentum in emerging markets. |
