| Complementing C6R #3's victory excitement in the last half hour of the race (JO's first at Lime Rock), a lot of the thrills this year were found in a well stocked Corvette Corral.
Starting with an awesomely restored Yenko-Bushell '63 mutt ZO6 (above) that was raced at Sebring and tweaked by Smokey Yunick and others, more than a few choice specimens of real bad-ass Vettes and other stuff can be found in our album of Lime Rock Park 2008.
Lime Rock Notes -
The final numbers on the new Lime Rock track reconfiguration: [supposedly done for safety reasons to slow down the cars]
* Only 5mph less on speed down the hill [still serious 3-digit MPH crash potential with still no better runoff safety zone]. Over $1.2M in track-related crash damage [1 Audi, 2 Porsches, 1 Acura, and the GT1 Aston] thanks to the 2 new, but questionably-configured, 'bus stop' chicanes!
PS - the bus-stop curb-hopping [the now-compulsory fast way around LRP] may have cost the #4 its gearbox oil. |
