To race and win the 24 straight hours /3000+ miles at Le Mans each C6.R needed only one set of brakes to do the job. Not so in the 9 hours /1000 miles at Road Atlanta.
To compensate for weight and air intake penalties imposed upon them by the ALMS (No such handicapping exists at the authentic Le Mans) the Corvettes were forced to maintain speed and drive deeper into the corners then jump hard on the brakes to outrace the quicker AM's.
This late-brake strategy caused each car to need a pit stop in the 8th hour, assuring Team Corvette's defeat.
The superhuman teamwork of the C6.R race crew as they changed the front brake systems of each in less than 4 minutes was amazing to watch.
