The June 25-26 Nurburgring 24hr race is the greatest production-based sports car race in the world. 200 cars, 250,000 fans, 27 Brands, 22 classes.

And only ONE Corvette? WTF?
Entered in Class SP8 by one Tobias Guttroff, the GT4 C6, qualified 48th Overall, 5th in SP8.

The 15.1 mile, 173-turn, Nordschleife [plus a bit of the GP course] is the best track in the world to showcase what GT race cars are supposed to do - Go fast / Turn fast / Work the limits of adhesion. Racing it is, frankly, a bigger test than just lapping it. Even if Corvette just cut another faster lap.

Racing the Nurburgring24 is SO appealing because the racing is so ANTI-SPEC. No spec-CARS anywhere. No generically-sanitized spec TRACK, either. What's created is a real test of car and competition.

So, how did the Corvette fare after 24 hours? P23 Overall. P2 in SP8 Class. But, the story IS the cars the C6 beat - Lexus LFA, Aston Martin Zagato, the GlickenHaus P4/5, Mercedes SLS, BMW Z4 GT3 V8, Nissan GT-R, and more than a few Porsches.

Maybe in addition to Le Mans, as the Nurburgring 24 continues to raise itself in global status, Corvette should stick around Europe a bit longer in June and go for an overall win HERE.
Just sayin'.
