NYPD's & Corvette's Finest

"How Jake truly received his name has been kicked around quite a bit, but the one story that comes up frequently is that a former New York City cop, Gary Claudio, named the skull after notorious movie badass, Jake, from the Blues Brothers film"... - Jalopnik.com

Well they kind of got it right: Claudio really was a hard-ass NYC cop. But he in fact had quite a career after putting away the badge and gun.

The main thing is that in-between his stints at the NYPD and naming Jake, Claudio was, before retiring last year, Corvette's Brand Manager, and before that, the GM Manager of Corvette Racing - all during one of the most illustrious and accomplished periods in Corvette's 57 year history.

Easy to forget that Corvette Racing, when it began, was less than the dominant success it is today. Much should be attributed to the tenacious corporate 'push' provided by Claudio within GM halls. His voice gave root to the GM commitments needed to deliver results. Add to this the smash-success launches of the race-inspired Z06 and ZR1's.

Claudio knew that Corvette success was also dependent on marketing visibility / awareness / audience connection. So, he took every opportunity to promote Corvette, Corvette Racing, the brand's unique attributes, and Corvette's passionate owner / fan loyalty -

Rumor is he's being nominated for induction into the Corvette Hall of Fame.

Hell, he certainly has our vote.
