In the debut of the ALMS Green Challenge @ Petit LeMans, the Corvette of O'Connell, Magnussen, Fellows were victorious for Corvette / GM in the GT category. The Penske Porsche entry of Long, Maassen, Collard were the Prototype winners.

Corvette scored 20.391 GC points, the BEST overall score in the competition as based on criteria of Performance, Fuel Efficiency, and Environmental Impact [BTW- Does anyone have the rules formula to publish here?]. So, BBV declares Corvette the OVERALL Green Racing winner.

For Corvette this was another total team effort - GM Powertrain, Katech, Pratt & Miller. Their work went beyond the E85, making the engine more efficient / more environmentally friendly, the team dug into the nuances - eg; reducing wheel bearing friction, cutting aero drag, and more.

Oh yeah, O'Connell / Magnussen won the 'traditional' race and clinched the GT1 Drivers Championship with their 8th 2008 win! [...and Audi smacked Peugeot, AGAIN!....Penske went 1, 2, 3 in LMP2 and Ferrari outran the Lizards, etc. in GT2]

But, back to this Green thing. ALMS CEO - Atherton makes a big / relevant deal about the need for ALMS racing to be the green technology test bed to attract / retain manufacturers and fans [Here, too]. Great interview on the broadcast, as such. And many companies have stepped up - Corvette, etc..

But, WHERE is the post-race, first awards PR? BBV is Googling way too hard to find the news this AM. Marketing is still part of the job here we're just saying. ALMS, please. Make your leadership stance pay off for you......and your supportive partners.

Rant over......Congrat’s Corvette Racing.
Keep making the news, it will be noticed. Plus, it probably was the most significant win for Corvette in that GM Boardroom Budget Competition you enter every year!
